A Morning Walk Through the Harbor

We’ve strolled the harbor paths more mornings than we can remember, and somehow it still feels like a treat. The fishing boats bobbing in the water, the pelicans waiting for their breakfast, the soft calm before the day wakes up—there’s nothing quite like it. It’s the kind of simple routine that sets the tone for the whole day.

If you keep walking toward the shops, you’ll find a few of our favorite stops. Stratford at the Harbor is a wonderful place to settle in for breakfast. We like sitting outside with the view across the marina—it’s cozy, familiar, and always hits the spot.

If you’re in the mood for something lighter, head to Nautical Bean for a coffee. They make a great cup, and it’s an easy place to linger for a moment while you watch the boats move in and out.

A little later in the day, Harbor Fish and Chips is a classic. We’ve been going there for years. It’s simple, it’s quick, and the fish is always fresh. There’s just something about sitting by the water with a basket of fish and chips that feels like Oceanside in a nutshell.

And if you’re walking with kids—or you just enjoy a treat—stop by Nana’s and Pop’s Sweet Shop. It’s a fun little spot with ice cream and old-fashioned candies, and our grandkids make a beeline for it every time they visit.

Take your time, enjoy the quiet corners, and let the harbor work its charm. It always does.
